Caribbean Fashion Designer of the Week Aug 25 - Sept 1, 2014

Nigel Eastman

Nigel Eastman of Zadd and Eastman Designs is a fashion designer from Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago. He is the other half of ‘Zadd and Eastman Designs’ which he owns together with design partner Omzad Khan.

For the designs, there are bold colors, beautiful prints, and hand-painted linen used. Also common are the use of bright silks and chiffon adorned with floral patterns for the beautifully well-crafted designs.

Oasap Limited

The clothing can be described as wearable, unique, elegant, innovative and sometimes colorful with a Caribbean flavor. The signature look is the use of hand-painted fabrics and designing mostly dresses.

Zadd and Eastman Designs caters to the middle class elegant and glamorous (Caribbean) woman. The inspiration for the clothing is the cruise glamour, and diverse ethnicities. Thus, the focus is creating resort clothes and sometimes merging different influences in these designs, like making them a little Afrocentric or Indocentric.

Here are some designs created by 'Nigel Eastman' :

More

Zadd and Eastman Designs have been showcased during the Caribbean Fashion Week annual editions in Jamaica, and also fashion events regionally and internationally. These designs were also worn by representatives from Trinidad and Tobago, for Miss World and Miss Universe like Miss Universe Trinidad & Tobago 2011 ‘Gabrielle Walcott’. Furthermore, in 2004 the clothing was selected to dress ‘Michelle Williams’ of Destiny's Child for a photo shoot in Los Angeles for the urban gospel magazine ‘Xii Twelve’. Another celebrity that was seen with these beautiful designs was Grammy award winning gospel artist ‘Dottie Peoples’.

There is a Zadd and Eastman Designs´ store in South Trinidad and hopefully the designs can soon be purchased also at Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot.
