Caribbean Fashion Spot is looking for interns and volunteers for three months who are passionate about fashion and glamour with interests in Caribbean brands. You will assist the team with PR activities including media relations, social media and event marketing for the Caribbean fashion show which is part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam 2015. Furthermore, you will assist on the day of the fashion show as hosts and/or backstage coordinators (for models and designers) that takes place in July 2015.

Candidates must be available online for 2-3 days per week and available on set at the fashion show. You should have some knowledge of Communications (press releases, online publications, blogs, social media) and customer service-oriented with fluency in Dutch and English. This opportunity is unpaid, but a great way to gain experience in fashion at an international platform.

‘Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot’, is a young company published by ‘International Relations Consultancy’ a Dutch PR/international marketing communications company specialized in content- and online marketing, is the spot for all your fashion in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). We serve as a fashion platform and strive  to make the world aware of the many fashion and beauty talents we have in the Caribbean, and just want to show to the Caribbean and to the world that there is a Caribbean fashion industry consisting of talented Caribbean fashion designers, beauties, photographers, stylists, make-up artists etc. including fashion events. At the same time ‘Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot’ is an independent directory of webshops shippin in and distributing to the Caribbean and beyond (North America, Europe, Asia, South America).

Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot is seeking an energetic, organized and self-motivated E-Commerce Intern for Fall 2014 who can work a flexible schedule (20 to 40 hours a week) to join our International Sales and E-commerce department. As our marketing intern you will have exposure to multi-media advertising, eCommerce,  social media (Facebook and Twitter), and direct mail. You will monitor our social media presence, develop social media messaging via Facebook and Twitter, and you will contact (potential) business partners/advertisers.

Furthermore, you will also assist with planning and execution of online sales events (publishing our advertisers’ promotions and discounts online, and also our own online services’ promotions) as well as online key account presentations to (potential) business partners and advertisers (seeking proactively Caribbean fashion designers and advertisers online and by phone). Together with the Editor-in-Chief and PR/Fashion & Lifestyle editor, you will build and cultivate business relationships with new and existing ecommerce partners/designers/advertisers, and facilitate internal and external communication regarding company directives and promotions.

Experience with Photoshop, HTML, affiliate marketing, outbound sales is preferred. As an intern you will have the opportunity to learn about other business functions by working closely with the Editor-in-Chief through our online cloud-based office, and by monitoring the international fashion industry and its developments (and that of other fashion publishers).   

The internship is available immediately for at least three months.  Please note that it is unpaid and it concerns a position to work from home 90% of the time, online. So we are looking for someone that is proactive,  and a self-starter with access to Internet daily.

Responsibilities include:

•Communicate with key accounts, being in dialogue with B2B customers worldwide; selling our online marketing services in order to maintain existing and create new business relationships (Caribbean fashion designers, and advertisers related to Caribbean tourism and e-tail).  

•Look for and schedule Caribbean fashion events also those outside the Caribbean that we do or not attend; update our online calendar, also on social media (Facebook and Twitter)

•Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and PR/Fashion & Lifestyle editor for planning, follow-up, client communication and media partnerships

•Assist with communicating our promotions and new product/service introductions including our attendance as press/publisher during international fashion events to promote designers on the spot (like exhibitions and gift suite events).

•Frequent and timely update information on social media (Facebook and Twitter), to generate more followers and fans.


All interested candidates should meet the following requirements:

Is studying or has studied (e.g. fashion, business, management, communication, online marketing, economics)

•Effective communication skills in English, Spanish and/or French, preferably a (Caribbean) Dutch native.

•Familiarity with online shopping 

•Strong interest within Caribbean region, its fashion industry or lifestyle

•Background in retail or merchandising preferred

•Good writing skills

•Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point )

•Ability to work online, from home

•Must be goal-oriented, analytical, and deadline driven

•Self-starter, strategic thinker, and ambitious .

•Willing and available to attend fashion events and meet with key accounts at our expense
