Afro Caribbean influences in Modern Fashion

Why is the region not getting any credits for these styles?

The peplum blouses / skirts / dresses look like they have some similar characteristics with those of the 'quadrille dresses'. These quadrille dresses are traditional Afro Caribbean clothing, with different names in each country; in Haiti known as the 'Karabela Dress', in Suriname as the 'Kotomisi', in Jamaica as 'Bandana Skirt', and in St. Lucia as 'Kwadril Dress' etc.

Also the 'Crop Top Look' which is very popular today, one can see that this was already part of some traditional Afro Caribbean clothing. See below images of THEN - 'traditional Afro Caribbean clothing'- and NOW - illustrating the looks that are currently so popular.

What do you think, should the world keep an eye on Caribbean Fashion and Culture, and acknowledge its influences in Modern Fashion?
